Nursing alumna Jamie Bohacek, ’14, ’16, (left) is the president and co-founder of the first Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard.

The organization for registered nurses pays tribute to Wisconsin nurses who have passed away. They honor these individuals at their funerals by recognizing their unselfish dedication to the profession of nursing.

Services offered by the Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard include:

-          The Nightingale Tribute, a nursing sonnet read during graveside services

-          Final Call for Duty, a ceremonial request for the nurse to report to duty

-          Casket Honor Guard, a visitation vigil

-          Pallbearers

The Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard has extended membership to nursing students in their final semester of nursing school to welcome them to the profession.

Alumna Geralyn Voboril, ’05, ’06, also serves on the organization’s leadership team as outreach coordinator.
